DNS servers update of .ES domains
When registering or modifying the DNS servers of a domain with a .ES extension, the changes are not applied immediately. The organization responsible for managing these domains, NIC.es, processes updates at scheduled intervals throughout the day.
DNS Update Frequency at NIC.ES
Although there is no official confirmation on this procedure, currently, NIC.es performs DNS server updates six times a day, at the following times (Spanish Time):
- 02:00
- 06:00
- 10:00
- 14:00
- 18:00
- 22:00
For example: a modification requested at 09:45 will be included in the 10:00 update, while a change made at 10:05 will be applied in the next cycle, at 14:00.
Propagation Time and Change Visibility
Once the update is processed by Dominios.es, the new DNS servers start propagating across the network. This application may take up to approximately one hour.
Keep in mind that effective DNS propagation is not instantaneous, as it depends on the information being updated in the different cache servers and DNS resolvers globally.
IMPORTANT: These deadlines and schedules also apply to the creation and modification of DNSSEC entries and changes in the Glue Records configuration of .ES domains.
Recommendations for Efficient Updates
- Plan the modification before a NIC.es update cycle to minimize waiting time.
- Verify that the new DNS servers are correctly configured and accessible before making the change.
- Avoid making consecutive modifications in short intervals, as they could generate inconsistencies during propagation.
- Wait at least 48 hours before checking definitive results in case of resolution issues.
